The CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones added that Haier’s huge investment in Egypt is an important step on the road to localizing industrial technology, as the company will establish a research center for product development in Egypt, not just transferring technology from abroad, in addition to that the establishment of a huge industrial complex in Egypt attracts new investments in the feeding industries related to the home appliances industry.
Mr Ahmed El-Gendy, Director of Haier Electric Egypt, said that the company, which owns the first brand in the manufacture of home appliances globally, aims to make Egypt the center for exporting its products to the Middle East, Africa and Europe, taking advantage of the trade agreements linking Egypt with Africa, the Middle East and the European Union, in addition to covering the needs of the local market by establishing a number of local commercial centers and a customer service center.
Zhao Yang, Chairman of Haier International, said that investing in Egypt is a strategic goal for the Chinese government and companies, to benefit from the investment incentives offered by the Egyptian government, its privileged location on the Silk Road, and its early accession to the Belt and Road Initiative 2030, noting that the company aims to make Egypt the largest and most important centre for smart manufacturing in the region, depending on the efforts of 10 research and development centres of the company worldwide, in addition to the research and development centre that will be established in Egypt.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Haier International praised the speed of completion of investment agreements in Egypt, as a memorandum of understanding was signed to establish the factory with the Egyptian government last August, and the company obtained the golden license in December, which is a comprehensive license for all permits, and today the foundation stone of the factory is laid.
