TransMEA 2023……A Brief about It
Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the activities of the 5th Smart Transport, Logistics, infrastructure & Traffic Fair & Forum for The MEA Region (TransMEA) were held on November 5-8, 2023, at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in the Fifth Settlement under the title “Localization of the Transportation Industry in Egypt”.
This exhibition comes within the framework of the great interest that the Egyptian political leadership and government gives to the transportation sector, as it is the main artery on which the state’s economic and social development are built.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Transportation is currently implementing a comprehensive plan to develop and modernize the transportation system in terms of roads, bridges, railways, subways, electric traction, seaports, land and dry ports, logistics areas, and river transport, from 2014 to 2024 with investments amounted to about 2 trillion pounds.
TransMEA’s Participants
Around 350 companies from nearly 50 countries participated in TransMEA 2023, in addition to several Ministers, the Governor of Cairo, the Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, the head of the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), the head of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, and officials from the Ministry of Transportation. Not only that, but many Arab and African transportation ministers, ambassadors from different countries, and heads of major international companies specialized in the transportation field also participated in this event.
It is worth noting that mass transportation was provided to transport exhibition goers from several main squares in Cairo throughout the exhibition, and buses were also provided to transport exhibition visitors from outside Cairo.
TransMEA’s Activities
This exhibition includes many activities, including:
- Lining up in the external square of the exhibition to display electric traction projects, such as high-speed electric train, light electric train, The East and West Nile monorail, the third metro line, vehicles developed for transporting goods by rail, electronic sliders, railway switches, modern means of eco-friendly public transportation, and Capital Taxi “sea winch, long live Egypt, fiberglass.
- Allocating a pavilion for the Ministry of Transportation that includes 12 entities affiliated with the Ministry to display various projects, activities, services, and the most important investment opportunities in all transportation sectors.
- Allocating an innovation arena to display youth projects and ideas from various Egyptian universities and technological schools.
- Holding several specialized seminars and workshops in the various transportation sectors.

The Minister of Transportation’s Statement on this Exhibition
Mr. Kamel al-Wazir, the Egyptian Minister of Transportation, explained that the launch of TransMEA 2023 comes in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and the interest of the Egyptian government, represented by the Ministry of Transportation, in supporting and developing means of transportation.
He added that the exhibition had met with great success during previous sessions, which was a strong motivation for taking the decision to hold it annually to showcase the tremendous and successive developments in transportation technology and industry.
He then stressed that there is diverse participation with the Arab side in many projects, such as the establishment of the Cairo-Cape Town Highway, Egypt-Chad Road, and the International Coastal Road from Port Said to Libya. He also pointed out the importance of the private sector’s participation in projects, such as managing and operating the 4th and 6th lines, managing the Abu Qir Metro, and operating a number of railway lines and iron workshops and invited both local and foreign investors to invest in the transportation projects in Egypt.
