On Saturday, February 18, 2023, Dr. Ahmed Maher Hassanein, Founder of AHG Group, received his UAE Fellowship from the Emirates Association of Accountants and Auditors. 

It was received on his behalf by Mr. Khalid Maher, Director of Operations at the Dubai Branch, during the activities of the first forum of the Emirates Association of Accountants and Auditors at the UAE Fellowship Ceremony at the Al Joud Ballroom, Hilton Al Habtoor City Hotel, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Emirates Association of Accountants and Auditors

The Association of Accountants and Auditors (AAA) represents the National Assembly of the United Arab Emirates and is a non-profit organization that adopts a comprehensive strategy to contribute to the development of the accounting and finance profession in the country. 

The Society was established in 1997 by Ministerial Decree 227 with the main objective of building national capacities in the field of accounting and finance in line with best practices and international standards.

  • Mission: An ideal environment for the development of the accounting and auditing profession to serve members, the profession and society.

Conditions for obtaining the UAE Fellowship Certificate

To obtain the UAE Fellowship Certificate from the Association of Accountants and Auditors, a number of conditions must be met, as follows:

General Conditions

  1. The applicant for the UAE Fellowship must be fully qualified.
  2. He must be of good conduct and behavior and has not been convicted by any court ruling.

Procedures for obtaining the UAE Fellowship Program

  • To have a valid membership with the Emirates Association of Accountants and Auditors before the date of applying for the approved exams.
  • The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than accounting, provided that he obtains 15 hours of study in accounting courses approved by the Ministry from one of the accredited universities in the Ministry of Education in the UAE.
  • The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than accounting and hold a foreign fellowship certificate from one of the professional bodies that are members of the International Federation of Accountants

  • Applying to pass the approved exams, provided that the success rate is not less than 60% in each test:

-Testing accounting standards. 

– Testing audit standards. 

– Testing legislation and taxation

  • Anyone who holds a professional certificate issued by the following professional academies is exempted from the first and second exams, provided that he applies for the third test only:

-American Institute of Chartered Certified Accountants (CPA) 

-Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAW) 

-Legal Association of Chartered Accountants – UK ACCA 

-Institute of Chartered Accountants – Australia ICAA 

-Saudi Organization for Auditors and Accountants (SOCPA)

Granting the UAE Fellowship Certificate to those enrolled in the Ministry of Economy before May 12, 2022

The certificate is granted to registered natural persons practicing the profession in accordance with the following conditions: 

  • Valid membership with the Emirates Association of Accountants and Auditors.
  • Valid registration certificate at the Ministry of Economy.
  • A professional certificate recognized by the Ministry of Economy from one of the accredited bodies mentioned in Resolution (805) of 2018 (21 accredited bodies) ‘This decision has been canceled for new applicants’.
  • Obtaining a continuing professional education program of (30 hours) for the purposes of equivalence of their professional certificates within a period of two years from May 12, 2022.

The UAE Fellowship Certificate is granted to natural persons practicing the profession and not holding a foreign fellowship certificate before May 12, 2022 according to the following conditions: 

  • Valid membership with the Emirates Association of Accountants and Auditors.
  • A valid registration certificate at the Ministry of Economy.
  • Passing all approved exams within a period of two years from May 12, 2022.

  • Provide evidence of 30 CME hours.
  • Payment of prescribed fees.
